Birth Mother Services and Benefits
Once an expectant birth mother has chosen an adoptive family to place her baby with, she is eligible to receive assistance with various pregnancy-related costs and expenses. Florida law allows adoptive parents to assist the expectant mother during her pregnancy and up to six weeks after pregnancy. These expenses are allowed if you are unemployed, under-employed or unemployable. These living expenses can include: telephone service, food, toiletries, necessary clothing, transportation, insurance and expenses necessary for the health and wellbeing of you and your child.

Post-Adoption Relationships
All adoption situations are different, but it’s important to know that in today’s world, adoption does not have to be the end of your relationship with your baby. Open adoption is incredibly common and advocated for by the vast majority of adoption professionals. There is no standard for what an adoption looks like, as each relationship is unique. However, one thing is certain: the level of contact you’d like to have with your baby and adoptive family is up to you. It’s something you determine when crafting an adoption plan and must be agreed to by the adoptive family. If you’d prefer to have a close adoption, that’s completely fine too.
