What Adoption Options are Available for Pregnant Women in Florida?
I am expecting my first child. This pregnancy is unplanned. I am not yet ready to parent my child, so I am trying to find out what adoption options are available for pregnant women like me. I am feeling overwhelmed and don’t know what to do. You are not alone. There is help. The Law Offices of Berkowitz & White PLLC is ready to listen to your pregnancy journey and can help you.
Let’s understand what adoption options are available in Florida. Typically, three adoption options are available for birth mothers who want to give their children up for adoption. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to choose the option. All that matters is finding out which adoption plan suits you and your baby. This is not a decision we can make for you, but only guide you. There are certainly pros and cons to each type of arrangement.
Open Adoption
Open adoption is the most popular option. It allows you to have an ongoing relationship with your child and your chosen family through letters, photos, videos, and, in some cases, visits throughout your baby’s childhood. Our caseworkers will guide birth and adoptive parents in deciding upon the open adoption plan. You can participate actively in your child’s life through Adoptswap.
Semi-Open Adoption
This can be an option for you if you don’t wish to get too involved in your child’s life but still want to know how your child is doing. After the adoption, you may receive pictures and letters regarding the child from Adoptive Parents through Adoptswap.
Closed Adoption
No contact or information is shared between the birth mother and adoptive parents in a closed adoption. If a birth mother wants no contact with the parent and her child after adoption, closed adoption will be the best option for her.
